ESU JD5550

I am installing ESU JD5550 in B733.2 Service Pack 10.1 - In the Software
Updates - I get to the selection of the Environment to install it in it
begins to copy the information and then I get an error "Business Function
has caused a Memory Violation" - Then Invalid Overwrite or Read in
Applicaton: P9670.

JDE suggested upgrading my MDAC. So we are now on MDAC v 2.6. Servers are
NT 4.0 Service Pack 6a and SQL 7.0.

I am still waiting for a call back for JDE - since the guy handling my call
is now on vacation until December 28th!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Lori

Who was the tech you were working with?

Memory violation - did you try rebooting? What's your mem layout on the deployment server?

Lori,

Are you using VNC or PC anywhere? JDE has made issue that both of these
remote control programs will cause memory errors during builds. If you are
using a remote control program - try hitting the real keyboard (even if it
is half way around the globe). You may have better luck.

I'm running B733.2 SP 17.1_B1 with JD5550 and all the other mandatories. To
install the JD5550 on B7332 you must be on an Xe Foundation (Service Pack)
which is SP 13.X or higher (Check the Support News Archives for Jan 2001 on
the Knowledge Garden). I installed this over a year ago but I may still have
a few guides from Denver (they're likely also on the knowledge garden). I'll
see if I can find them for you.

I was working with Arun Kaliappa. I have rebooted multiple times like 10
times a day the last 3 days. We have 262K pagefile on C; and 1gig pagefile
on D with 1 gig physical Ram. I am logged directly onto the Deployment
server. (no remote access) I also disabled the VNC snapshot.

Lori :

The guys are right, disable any remote access software while installing
ESUs, also check GH9053 - Pathcode Master - JDEPLAN - Deployment
Location = "OneWorld Local" (while logged on JDEPLAN environment).
IF you receive a memory violation error, you should reboot your server
before trying again.

Re: RE: ESU JD5550

"must be on an XE service pack to use JD5550" - I do not believe that that is a true statement. May be you could tell us what you are referring to.

I do not think that an XE service pack is required.

Hi Colin,

"must be on an XE service pack to use JD5550" - this is not a true statement. You only need XE service pack if you want to use Visual Compare.

Just trying to help by quoting the JDEdwards web site. Apparently from the
experts on this list it appears that you can install the JD5550 on B7332
without SP 13.X.

Sorry if my info was incorrect but given the source I got this from I expect
this every now and then.

Re: RE: ESU JD5550

Hi
We faced the same problem when we applied the JD5550 ESU on B7332 with Service pack 10.3. Users always complained that they are getting the errors like "Memory or Invalid overwrite or read". I even tried to delete the user overrides but no success. Then we applied the service pack 15.1 ( White paper is available for this error). Apply Service pack 15.1. Good Luck.

Re: RE: ESU JD5550

Colin,

I agree with you. I do not know if it is documented anywhere about the service pack level but we were on SP11.1 (which in my opinion was a fairly good service pack) and had the same issues. At the time I did not want to apply another service pack but we had other issues and had to apply SP15.1 to correct them. After I applied SP15.1 I tried JD5550 again and bingo it worked like a charm. The only minor difference was we were on B7331 instead of B7332.

Hope this helps,

Robby

Re: RE: ESU JD5550

Lori,

Would you by any chance be working with Euro Conversion? If so do a search on the Knowledge Garden under products for "OneWorld Euro Software Prerequisites B73.3.2". On the checklist of prerequisites for JD5550 is SP11.3 or above. This may not apply if you are not using the Euro Conversion. If not, check these out and see if any of them might help.

RE: RE: ESU JD5550

No Euro Conversions and I have checked the publications you recommended -
they have all been complete.

Another possible clue - during one of the memory violation errors if I debug
- I get the following error "Unhandled exception in oexplore.exe
(ODBCJT32.DLL): 0xC0000005: Access Violation."

Any other suggestions?

RE: RE: ESU JD5550

Would your JDE password happen to be something other than JDE. We had
this same error when we did update there and when we changed the JDE
password back to JDE it installed fine.

RE: RE: ESU JD5550

Have you seen the breaking news for this ESU. It is NOT your error at all
but may somehow be connected/causing the problem

Lori,

What is the date/time stamp and size of the CINSTALL.DLL and CCONVERT.DLL in the ..\B733\Planner\Bin32 directory on the deployment server?
