Escape Sequence UBE printing

I know this is similiar to a post by Darryn, but I am seeking another answer as well from this excellent collection of JDE professionals.

First, I am trying to send an escape sequence, to set the paper tray, in UBE code. I thought I would find a BSFN to convert/assign ascii to hex or whatever. In other languages I would use CHR$(27) and voila, I have the escape sequence in a string variable. Can anyone help with this?

Second, I opened a call with Oracle on this and I received:
WORKAROUND
Since EnterpriseOne does not send an escape sequences to the printer to change the trays, create two files with escape sequences for each tray and print them to the printer. This sets the desired tray to be active on the printer and when the UBE finishes processing it prints to the active tray which is the desired printer.

We all know there are things Oracle does not "support" that we achieve, such as logo printing. Anyone have a better workaround/trick than Oracle's?

Thanks.
