dual port 2 NIC

Hello list,

Right now I'm using only one NIC in my ES. Is there any body out there using
dual port and more then one NIC ?
Is there a perfomance gain ? Is it significant ? Does JDE even support that
?

Thanx in advance.

Yes, there's a definate advantage to having multiple NIC's in the ES. We've
got 4 teaming Network Cards in our ES (4 way Compaq Proliant 8000, 4 GB
RAM). Make sure that the network speed is properly configured on all the
NIC's. If possible try and get the NIC's from your hardware supplier rather
than using generic NIC's.

Hi Colin...

Do you have the NIC's attached to the same switch/hub, or are they attached
to different switches/hubs??

The 4 Compaq NIC's in our ES share one IP address and one MAC address so
essentially it's actually one NIC with multiple ports, sorry if I mislead
ya!. All NIC's are connected to a single Cisco switch that can support this
configuration. The NIC's are supported by Compaq drivers which in
conjunction with the switch allow for fault tolerance. I'm pretty sure the
same setup of teaming NIC's is available on Dell, HP and IBM.

I'm not too sure if it's possible to run JDE using multiple IP addresses so
this is a pretty decent work around.
