Depreciation rule add

Hello fellow listers.

I have an asset that I need to depreciate in 23 months.
I want to use Straight line, but have to create a user defined depreciation rule. I copied the straight line for 36 months and change the life of the asset from 36 to 23 months.

I keep getting an error when I try to attach this rule to my asset:

The error message is:
The user defined depreciation Method in combination with other Depreciation entered does not exist for any User defined depreciation rules

The solution is to add a new rule which I did but using the SL format.

Has any one experienced such?
Any type of help would be appreciated.

Hi

Sound like your rule is missing

A depreciation rule is unique based on the combination of the following fields

1) DEPR Method
2) Initial Term Apportionment
3) Compute Direction
4) Life Months

Ensure that these 4 fields on the SL rule you have created are the same as the 4 fields you are entering on the depreciation expense screen.
