Data Encryption using Tools 8.94 and higher

Does anyone have experience using the Data Encryption for sensitive data in E1, Tools 8.94 and higher? Does it work well? Can the data be viewed at all in the table via any method by non-HR personnel? We are looking into the E1 Human Capital Management module and obviously want to have sensitive data encrypted. Would be interested in hearing from anyone that has experience in this area.
