Cost of Goods

Normally we fill in the cost fields when an order is entered. However, we have some items that are ordered before the item cost has been determined.
Is it possible to fill in the cost fields right before ship confirmation or sales order update?

Thanks;

You can run a batch program, R42950, Update Sales Price and Cost, to recost
sales orders. It can even be called by Sales Update via a processing
option. However, it won't recalculate the cost if the cost was manually
entered previously. Doing that sets a flag in the F4211, and the program is
hard coded to skip those lines.

Normally, the cost should be in the inventory system as a result of purchase
receipts, inventory adjustments, or manufacturing work order completion. So
it isn't clear to me why you are entering the cost manually in the Sales
Order.

Re: RE: Cost of Goods

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, we do use JDE to populate the cost fields at order entry. I wasn't clear with that.
So, we have items that don't have the JDE item master cost fields populated when we first start entering orders for them. The price fields are populated!!
We knew about the R42950. However, we are stuck at B7.3.3.2 without the prerequisite ESU applied. So, we were hoping for an easy "flip of the switch" solution to applying item costs at a later time in the order to cash process.
Thanks again,

P.S. I really get a lot out of the JDETips newsletter. Any chance of publishing it daily :)

Jim er, 007--

Thanks for the compliment, but for sure I wouldn't have any hair left if I
tried to publish it daily.

Anyway, give me a call if you need to talk about your costing issue in more
detail

correct?

Never say die...
