Connecting To One World Through 3rd Party Apps

Does anyone know of a way to connect to One World through a third party application using the JDE security setup? We are trying to distribute Crystal Reports to our users w/ out having to setup security at the database level. We have looked at JDE Direct, but it requires configuring row security. Does anyone know of anything that looks strictly at the One World security tables?

Jason,

OneWorld's security (excluding Row/Column since you did) is based on application/function access control. Exactly how do you expect to map this to database tables? You'll either have to go the JDEDirect method or bite the bullet and setup Database security. Database security setup isn't that hard to do by the way. After all, you already have the database secured from the general public, right ...?

P.S. Love the handle (Aiming4theFoot).

Yes, the db is secure from the world. Currently, though, One World security goes like this: the user can only access those tables that the reports and applications on their menus use. Setting up/maintaining security groups in the db is time-consuming and something we want to avoid if all possible. We are a small IS dept and have limited resources.

OK, so a storeroom clerk therefore should have access to the General Ledger? (Any Inventory Transaction affects G/L.) The Hours and Quantities application uses rates tables - should everyone who enters time in there have access to those rates?
In an ERP system there is not a one-one relationship between applications and tables. Probably more than 50 tables are affected by some complex transactions - A P.O. Receipt would be a good example.

Right now they have access to them STRICTLY through One World only and only via those applications/reports that they are given. They cannot access the db directly.
