Bar coding solution...

Hello all,

Semi-new user and appreciating this forum more and more every day. I would
like to ask fellow World shops if anyone has had to implement a
middleware-based 24/7 bar-coding solution and what package you employed. We
basically track inventory from receiving, through manufacturing to shipping
and need to be able to do so without downtime. We run one AS/400, so an
AS/400-based solution is highly unlikely, but I am very interested in
hearing experiences/anecdotes with middleware vendors. Many thanks in
advance...

DSI (Data Systems International) puts out a very good product (dcLINK). They
are a very large business partner of JDE's. Through our implementation, they
customized the majority of the functions for us based on our requirements
and are now marketing it as a full pallet tracking solution.

The base data collection software at the plant level runs on either Oracle
or SQL. We are using SQL 7.0 and supporting upwards of 200 data collections
devices. We have five other sites supporting anywhere from 50 to 200 data
collections each. The transactions from all six sites are then fed in real
time to JDE on a single AS/400.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
We use Bartender Software by Seagull, on an NT server. We FTP datafiles
from JDE (packslip and work order data) to our network and process labeling
there rather than on the 400. While running End of Day processing our 24/7
shipping department can continue to scan packslips and create labels as
needed.
Hope this helps!

Lynn, would I be able to contact you offline to find out more about BarTender? I am currently investigating vendors and would like to find out more from you regarding Seagull's offering from a client perspective.

Best,

Sylvan.
