Backup Strategy

I have come to believe that our backup strategy is excessive. We currently keep 7 years of data on the machine, do an annual backup and purge and send the annual backup offsite for 7 more years. Isn't that additional 7 years offsite excessive? I am thinking about changing it to just one year. Thanks in advance

We keep most of our data for at least seven years and longer depending on what it pertains to...

Do you have internal or external auditors? If so, what do they have to say about data retention?

As a citizen, I keep 7 years of my personal tax information too...juuuust in case ;-)

Good Luck,

Terry
