E9.2 Alternative COA or Multiple COAs use for one Company

We are looking for alternative Chart of Accounts (multiple COAs assign to a Company) for a specific Country for regulatory reporting.

What are the possible options available in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne system for having multiple COAs assignment for a specific Company Code.

Well, usually in the setup of this new Company, you can replicate the same CoA from the HQ, add new accounts in the same range as you have in the HQ for P&L and BS and them use a Cat Code from 21, 22, 23, ... 30 ... to define a Local Acct # or structure, so that country can rely on this Cat Code while the consolidation still in the same level as the HQ. One important remark, (depending on country), is to setup it in the local currency (or CORP?) so this will depend on the analysis whether is more beneficial for your company to have a custom to create a Ledger in local currency for statutory or use std processes to have their ledger into a 2nd Ledger and then reconcile/consolidate to HQ currency.

Hi Dole,

Cribeiro has described what your basic options are and the possible need to include new AAI entries. Your basic options for multiple CoAs for a single company are:

1) Use a custom Ledger Type for each new CoA. This commonly used for different reporting and/or tax purposes. It uses the same Cost Centres and Object Accounts as the AA ledger type. The ledger type is at the transaction and balance level. There is a bit of set up for custom ledger types, including rules, that may be useful. I encourage you to look at the manual to see the flexibility and test things out in a DV or PY environment.

2) Use a separate collection of cost centres and use cost centre Category Codes to identify the different CoAs. This may mean a lot more transactional work.

3) A combination of the above.

With the above basic options, objects accounts

You could get into more complicated options such as using different data sources, but that would be a lot of work and should probably only be considered if none of the above can be made to satisfy your needs.

Hi Dole,

Mmm ...

With the above basic options, objects accounts

I didn't finish my comment above. It should read:

With the above basic options, objects accounts do not need to be used the same way across the CoAs or some CoAs can use an object account and others may not.
