Ron,
I do apologize for not writing earlier so this may be a bit late - to
create a WO per SO you need to use the W line type. This should have
already been set up with default Order Activity rules. You can manually
create this by changing the Line type to W on a standard SO or you can
create a version of Sales Order Entry P4211 that defaults the W line type.
If you call this version of P4211, in your MRP version, you will create a
planned Work Order for each Sales Order.
Drawbacks - 1) the connectivity between the SO and WO is very limited.
Changes made to one do not necessarily reflect in the other
2) you may lose efficiency in manufacturing - if you could
benefit by combining WO quantities and mfg. like items together you won't
have this. It seems to me that it is ideal for made to or engineered to
order only.
Hope this helps.

Can anyone point me in the direction of attaching a Work Order per a Sales
Order when running MRP regeneration. I know the question came up during
the Composer phase of our implementation back in April 1999, but we decided
not to attach Work Orders per each Sales Order.
If we do accomplish this, what would be the downside?
We are currently at A7.3 Cume 9.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
