Hi All,

I have worked on JD Edwards Enterprise one 8.11 for 2.10 years. But right now, i am working on JD Edwards worldsoft A7.3 from last 3 months. Can anyone suggest me which will be best for career point of view Either JD Edwards Enterprise one or JD Edwards Worldsoft? So i can concentrate on only one of them.

Please help....!

I think JD Edwards E1 is the way to go career-wise.

JD Edwards replaced their "green-screen" in 1996. The number of companies using E1 is increasing every year.

Raj,

Do you want to be a 'specialist' or do you want to be part of the crowd?

Here's the scenario:
* World has been around since the introduction of Dirt to Farming. It is Solid and its support staff is very mature (a nice way of saying, 'retiring')....
* Prior to Oracle taking over - World was on the way out, and customers were being 'forced' to move to E1 as an upgrade option.
* With Oracle, World is continuing to be enhanced - I don't believe there is any end-of-life in the picture.
* EnterpriseOne continues to mature and broaden its scope. Every month there is a new News Release, listing enhancements....

With all that said - the market for World Professionals is becoming more competitive - as the folks that support it mature and the folks that should be supporting it chose the EnterpriseOne direction instead (it was a good choice at the time).

If you are Good at World, RPG and love the iSeries - Go With World....

Just my personal thoughts...

Raj,
Its all about your choice and passion. If you want to be current with the latest technologies then be on E1. However one disadvantage becomes advantage for others and you can be in Worldsoft with hard to find skills but be aware that you dont become obsolete so much that you cant makeup with the new technologies when need be.

Hi DBohner,

I mentioned that i was working with E1 8.11 from last 2.10 years. And with worldsoft A7.3 i am working from last 3 months even i am not so good in worldsoft. i respect your advice and also very thankful to you.

Now, i planned to pursue worldsoft. But i don't understand RPG. If you have any document for beginners, please forward me.

Raj,

You need to understand RPG - to move forward with World.

I don't have access to the RPG Manuals - but, you should be able to access most of them via the IBM websites.

If I come across something - I'll forward.
