I have an interesting problem at one of my clients.
The client is on XP sp23, has HP-UX enterprise servers running at the current (Jan 2010) supported patch level and UDB Version 8.1. All production clients are deployed through Citrix Presentation server running on WIndows 2008 standard edition. There are three develpment clients on 2000 server accessed via RDP.
Their problem is this: They have a custom UBE that contains several custom DD items. when deployed to the test Win 2000 clients the ube formats correctly. When deployed to the Citrix clients, the UBE misses out one DD item occasionally on some servers. Copying the pathcode from one server to another can make it work correctly and copying it back causes the error to reappear. It is not consistently any particular server, it is intermittent across all servers.
When deployed to the enterprise servers the behavious is the same. It might fail on one and when the pathcode is copied to the other it will work. Copy the pathcode back again and it will fail again.
Finally, when the dd files are deleted from the spec directory and the report is run on the enterprise servers only, the report formats correctly once. If run again the DD item is not displayed again. This is the only consistent behaviour so everything points to some problem with DD, but this would not explain why the pathcode will sometimes work when copied from one machine to another.
Any light shed on this problem would be much appreciated.
