Alright folks, who's got the best idea or product for emailing UBE output?

Requirements:

- 8.12 compatible
- Low cost
- Ease of implementation
- Low administrative burden
- Stable
- STABLE (Did I mention that it has to be stable? Meaning that it doesn't screw up the kernels, etc.)
- I'm sure I'll think of something else to go here
- SMTP-based (No sense installing Outlook on an Enterprise Server that has been made quirky enough by Oracle)

Thanks,
Jeff

What platform are you running on, in a former llife I used a product on
an I Series that was fairly affordable easy to integrate.

Jeff,

here's my Optio take:

- 8.12 compatible: I believe so.
- Low cost: Nope - expect to spend a few bucks.
- Ease of Implementation: Nope, not easy
- Low admin burden: Yes - very low.
- Stable: EXTREMELY Stable
- SMTP Based: Yes
- Something Else: With all of these 3rd party products (Optio, Formscape, etc) you can do much more than just email the original file/document. They burst, they reformat the crappy format you get out of JDE into something that looks professional (logo and all), they fax, print, email convert to different formats (RTF, Word, PDF, etc), they archive, etc. Which is why I gave implementation as not easy - to get the benefit from this stuff you have to make a time investment - or pay a consultant to do it for you.

If you search the forums though I think you can find something close to what you're looking for - cheap and without a lot of extra functionality.

Good luck,

I think a printer driver that can send directly to predefined email addresses is just what the doctor ordered.

Nice thing about this is you can use the new "print immediate by version" available in 8.12.

Is it stable? Beats me, haven't tried it myself. We use Optio, but as Larry stated, it isn't free and you have to spend some time setting it up and then there is the ongoing maintenance.

I like a simple solution that doesn't "get in the way" and especially one that mentions JDE specifically on their website. Usually I don't trust software downloads from Norwegian websites, but this one appears to be legit.

Using "E-mail Merge Letter" (B0500725) business function
you can send SMPT email messages including binary attachment

Look at our AUTOPRINT solution - I'm sure the existing users here can post comments on it too...

Jeff

Look at Alexs' Autoprint solution. www.everestsoftint.com - I've had a couple of customers implement it, and its a LOT less expensive and extremely stable compared to other solutions.

Its a simple tool - but it does the job right.

I believe this functionality will be standard with tools release 8.97....It mentioned it in the statement of direction....

We're not from Norway but from the Netherlands, stable: yes, companies like Fedex process jobs with the program of over 20000 pages for over a year now without any problem, and yes, we are legit!

Hi Hans,

Maybe we can help you we are a company specialised in output management, and have several JDE customers on the different platforms.

We sell, and implement software called LibertySoft.
LibertySoft is like Optio only quicker, and easier to use.

If you are interested I can send you some more detailed info. Emailing via SMTP is no problem for us.

Large files; no problem.

Even Double Byte PDF is no problem.

Let me know if we can be of any help.
