We are looking at upgrading from Oracle 8i to 9i. Has anyone who has done this had a good or bad experience that they are willing to share?

Be careful and make sure you complete an adequate amount of testing. One rule of thumb with a new Oracle release is "what worked yesterday doesn't necessarily work the same today". Performance issues are the biggest item you should be addressing in your DEV environment before moving to Oracle 9i. If you only have one database server, I would suggest setting up another server with 8i, performing the upgrade and running through a battery of tests. Long running reports may suddenly become really long running reports. You may see better performance depending on the circumstances.
