Does oexplore.exe go away with 8.9?

We currently are not using solution explorer. Will we be forced to use it when we upgrade to 8.9? I want to start preparing for the learning curve now. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

yes, 8.9 uses solution explorer and uses role security now.

According to the document at Quest, yes. Only Solution Explorer is
available at 8.9
