I am going to be having 2 enterprise servers and one deployment server when our entire system configuration is complete. I am trying to find out how things like security, data dictionary and other system applications are handeld. Like User security are across all path codes in the system. Do most maintain 2 sets of security tables or do you miaintain 1 across both servers.

I am just trying to get a general idea as to the best way to maintain multiple enterprise servers.

Thanks!

Cleola,

By stating 2 ES's, do you mean 2 separate installations of OneWorld? If
both ES's are on the same installation of OneWorld, then security, DD,
etc. are still only in one place. You would have one ES act as the
primary security server and the other would be the secondary. OCM
mappings would be used to distribute the data and logic between the two.

If you are going to have two separate installations (each ES contains a
separate DB, has unique port), then you will need to build, for lack of a
better term, a "bridge" PC that is capable of 'seeing' both systems, IF
you need to perform any type of transfers between the two. This set up
would be a bit more trickier.

Regards,

Jim

Cleola, I find it confusing to maintain two sets os system, dd, etc. I
would always recommend to have one set of common datasources only, unless
you have compelling reasons to do otherwise. And I would put them on the
same machine as your production datasources.

My two centavos, Gerd

We have the same setup as you described. See attached spreadsheet. Let me know if you have any questions.
