Deployment Problems

Hi,
Currently we are experiencing serious problems with package deployment. Building a package finishes ok, but when trying to deploy it looks like the server hangs itself when trying to pauze other JDEprocesses on the ES.
Apart from Baseline ESU (JD16881)nothing has been installed or updated. We do use XPI.......
At the moment the only way we are able to deploy is to stop JDE services on ES, start them again, and immediately deploy the package.
Does anyone have had similar experiences??

Thanks,

Ed

Hi,

a) What is your Service Pack Level? Platform? DBMS? Is there Citrix?
b) Be aware that you can't deploy full server packages when UBEs
are running. Deploying a full package replaces the whole \pd7333\spec
and \pd7333\bin32 folders, and these are being locked by executing UBEs!

Hi,
Are you running the R00460 UBE against that server? You can tell by going to menu "P", selecting "Submitted Reports" then highlighting your server and taking a row exit to "Subsystem Jobs". Hit find on the first tab - if a process comes up in there than there is an R00460 running.

Basically the package deployment cannot install at the time a UBE is running as this UBE locks the files on the enterprise server. We had trouble because the R00460 never finishes so we have to stop this first.

It may also occur if there are other UBE's running like large financial reports as the deployment will timeout,

Stuart,
If I do this, nothing shows up. But when then go to the form 'view all', R00460 does come up. Does it run as a subsystem proces on the server then?

We don't use W environments but J environments (which is kind of the same), SP 20 and I've understood that with SP 20 deployment issues with W(J?)environments would be solved..

Ed,
Please go to the control panel right now and enter your environment information so it is there for your next post. ie. operating system, data base, citrix, web usage ? all of it matters.
Thanks,
Dave

We are using:
SP20
OS = NT/2000
SQL
WTS (no W environment, UBE run locally)
Web (using J environment)

Stuart,
You peaked my interest so I went and checked my subsystem jobs and found tens of thousands of R00460 waiting to be processed. I don't do any interoprability functions so where are these jobs being submitted from ?
They are submitted under different user names and it looks all users are all involved in A/P entry.

Dave, Stuart, et al....

This is a known issue and there is a KG document about how to turn off
the interoperability feature that generates these entries.

Now you're going to ask which document...OFN-02-0026.

Jim

Answered my own question.
To shut off A/P interoperability take all values out of the ZJDE0001 version of the interactive P0900160. Then the system will not attempt to interface these A/P transactions.
See JDE doc #OFN-02-0026

Dave,
These are subsystem records in the F986113. Even though it says
R00460 against it - this is the job that added it to the table, not the job
that is porcessing it. These records are not "Polling" anything, nor will
they stop your deployment. If you are not using EDI or interop then yuo can
simply delete these records.

You would be suprised how many things there are that write to this table -
there is a document about this on the KG that you should check out. (On how
to turn them off). You will also find that many of your financial "Z"
tables wil be populated by the same job which are records that you do not
need.

Regards,

Stuart
