World Writer - Summing Calculated fields

This is probably a stupid question, however, I'll ask it anyway. I have a world writer reading the F42005 Sales Commission file. The WW calculates and prints the Commission value as follows:
(sctotl * sccpct) / 100 = DOLL or dollars field 10,3

where sctotl is the Sales Line total
sccpct is the Commission percentage 7,3

The Doll field is then summed by Sales representative and Grand Total.
The individual line printout is correct as well as calculating the summed sales amount X sccpct.

In many cases the total of the Doll as summed on the report by Sales Representative can be off as much as 3 to 4 cents. When adding the total of all Sales Reps to the grand total, the total is off by 2 cents.

I've tried to rectify this by the following:

Doll * 1 = Comm$ 10,2

Same result where the individual Sales Rep total in some cases is off by 2 or 3 cents, same for the Grand Total.

I thought I understood WW but apparently I've missed something.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is something we are also looking into.
We are using Monarch to take various WW reports and to put them into Excel.
I am working on a problem right now where the totals in Excel to not agree
with the totals on the WW report.
I don't see how this could be the Monarch process, and am trying to prove
that WW is not adding correctly.
If this is the case I think it's very significant.
I havn't heard of this problem before, but would have thought that someone
somewhere ought to have spotted it.

Ron,

I was working with the same files while I was reading the post. Email me a copy of the header page directly and I'll take a quick look at it. Maybe I can help…

Mike

It sounds to me like WW is rounding the line to 2 decimals and then adding
the rounded number to the total (or sub-total). Thus, you'd be off a penny
or two.

To check this theory, run the report with at least 6 positions after the
decimal point and compare it line by line.

Received your attachments... I'll take a quick look and see what I find out.

By the way, I have been looking at this process over the last two days because it is new to me. There is very little meat to Commissions in Sales. I hope we can give JDE a nudge to address some of the concerns I have recently uncovered.

I was told today by JDE that the calculation actually happens within the inquiry process... I have to check this out yet! Also, there are no JE accruals for the commission amount, nor is there an interface into AR to pay the commissions.

Eric made a good point, Get back to you ASAP...
