substitute child item in MRP

Dear Users,

I want to use a substitute(procured) child item defined in BOM. BOM quantity of substitute item is One. I have on-hand stock of substitute item for 5 nos. I have a sale order for the parent item to the quantity of 10 nos. When I run the MRP, I am expect the MRP generated for the primary child item for 5 nos. ie, I want to consume 5 nosof substitute child item to get consumed during MRP run. This is not happening. WHY?

But, if make an independent work order and process it with
the processing option to pick substitute item, it is committing the substitute child item for the work order.

What should I do to commit the substitute child item during MRP run itself.

Basically MRP will not handle the substitutes but order processing (R31410) do. You may need some work arounds to let the MRP cover substituites. (like BOM sturcture may change and apply phantom items)
I know there is JDE KG white paper mentioned about it but sorry I can not find it now !
