Hi Community

I have a customer looking to implement SP23Y1 or SP23Z1 on their iSeries configuration. They are wanting to go to V5R4 (they have other software that is having issues with V6R1, so they want to delay going to V6R1 for at least 6 months)

So - heres the question. Should they go SP23Y1/Z1 or should they jump into SP24.0.3 ? They're currently on SP23K1 - so moving to Y1/Z1 isn't too large a jump for them.

We are run 24.0.2 + POC for a client on V5R4 with no issues so far. I'd recommend you take the 24.0.3. That way when they are ready to go V6R1 E1 is good-to-go.

I think all the issues with SP24 have been flushed out so that would be my preference (and what I have been doing).

Just seems to buy more bang for the buck.

There are a bunch of ESU's on the SP24 web site as well - mostly re-branding.

I would try SP24 first. If that does not work for you, we are running SP23_Y1 on V5R4 without issues. If you are using Vertex, you will have to change the way it is installed. We went from SP23_L2 to SP23_Y1 and somewhere in the middle OneWorld changed the way it interfaces with Vertex.
