Serial No Required at Shipment Confirmation

Hi there,

There is a requirement for a client that the serial no of the item needs to be recorded only at shipment confirmation so that they can trace the sales order / serial no combination. I know that this is possible through the program P4220 but I've been reading through the Knowledge Garden and noticed that there are a few problems related to it like you can at any time change the serial number recorded for a sales order.

Is there another more reliable way of doing so ? A workaround that works well even if it is slightly longer.

If you set serial nr to 'Y' in the item/branch settings you are forced to enter serial numbers, up to the shipped quantity.
