security for reports

hi there,
Guys am trying to set up some column security for my client, one of the requirements needed by that client is that some users should not see any cost for their items in any report.
I tried to set up security for these using
"security workbench – column security", then select *ALL for all tables and mention the data item name…it didn’t work they still can see the cost, also I tried the same but choose UBE instead of tables….but same same it didn’t work.
Now I am doubting that OW have column security for reports….is any fox here know if that correct or no???
Also did any body have a brilliant idea how to setup this kind of security instead of running like creasy all around oneworld to make new reports without that column!!!

Thanks,

1. Did you have the users log out and log back into JD Edwards after making your security changes?

2. Are you sure you selected the proper fields? Check to make sure the Alias on your security matches the table fields alias.

3. Did you secure the correct user or group name?

From what you described, Column security sounds like what you need to set up. Column security secures the table, so any application or report will be secured.

1.yes the users log out and in again.
2.am sure from the fields, because the field alias is matching with the report.
3.I secured the correct user.
4.I already as I described before using the column security, also I tried my security thing on a demo version and a real version…I didn’t work on both of them!!!

What field are you trying to secure? What table is the data pulling from that shows up on your report? What report are you running? Is it a custom UBE?

I would like to run some tests on our system.

Thanks.

Do you have the item concerned in the Data Selection of the Report ? I'm not sure but this may influence the UBE check against the user's/user group security profile.
Doogie
