Reg: Sales and Work Order

Hello All,

I have a peculiar situation - and this is how it goes

I created a Sale Order of Line type W (Work Order) on a specific item with Quantity = 10.
Now the program should go and check in the Location Quantity on hand. Say for example I have 3 quantity in the Location, then it should raise a Work Order for the rest of the 7 (10-3). I could do this in Procurement but some how the case is different with Work Order. Instead of raising the Work Order for 7 , the system was raising the Work Order for the entire 10 items. I checked the PO but no luck.

Can any one please let me know If I am missing some thing in the set up part, please?

Standard feature, By putting a W line type you are asking to make the full
quantity with a work order. You could contemplate putting a lesser
quantity on the W line type and the available inventory will use a S line
type on a second line.

Use Linetype S

In the work order if you are entering line type as S then qty as 10 ...While saving the work order system will create another line for qty 7 as back order and qty 3 as separate line with stock.
