RE: Sales demand by Request Date in Landscape form

Does JDE have a dream writer to output a report in the following format, it
would show open sales order quantities by request date:

Item # 11/01/00 11/02/00 11/03/00 11/04/00
Total
ABC111 20 10 3 15 48
ABC121 5 10 0 25 40

Has anyone else had a need for this type of report?? Thanks for any help I
can get...

Lord, let me know if you come across a solution, we tried something like
this with forcasts vs. actuals and delved into a VB hell with MS Access.
Fired the programmer after about 10K was spent and it was 80% complete, but
you know the last 20% is the hardest. If you have a VB programmer, I'll
share what we have with you, the programmer might be able to use some of the
calendar routines this other guy made.

Dale,

Did you ever consider using an output customization tool like Enterprise
Resolutions Spool Wizard to handle this? It doesn't require any
modification to your JDE output. The beauty of a product like this is that
you can determine how each copy of the report looks as you distribute it and
you can change the origentation from portrait to landscape on the fly based
on the destination. You can also supress fields that don't need to be
included for certain receipients all based on your business rules. People
tend to pidgon hole products like this to be used for only doing invoices or
purchase orders, when it is capable of doing much more. Take a moment to
visit our web site at www.eresolve.com

RE: Sales demand by Request Date in Landscape form

I have done this using two different methods. The first method was to use Pivot
Tables in MS Excel and the second method was to set up reports in Access to do
more or less the same thing when the data exceeded what Excel could handle. I
can't help you with the RPG or other report writing tools in JDE but I can give
you some insights into how I made it work in Access and Excel. Please reply to
the list if this solution is acceptable.

RE: Sales demand by Request Date in Landscape form

Try joining the F4211 to the F00365 by request date. Output the results to
a file and open in Excel. In Excel, do a pivot table on the data to get it
in the format you want. We use Showcase Query to bring data out of JDE and
direct into Excel and it works great.

RE: Sales demand by Request Date in Landscape form

Sounds pretty nice except that we rely on spreadsheets for our information.
Very little report printing, and spool file to .xls conversion is not pretty
and would take an additional piece of software to work due to parsing
restrictions.
And wouldn't I have to be using Jetform for your products to work?

I know a package that will do any kind of reporting you're interested in.

Oh I do this daily, he was suggesting his print form creation software for
spool files. Spool files are not pretty to deal with.
A cool thing to do with excel is to create an excel query with an ODBC
driver, create pivot tables and resorts on the data and save as a template.
Once done, every time the template is reopened the template will pull down
whatever data is in the file(s) and re-do the operations previously defined
(pivot tables, etc.) with the new data.

Re: Sales demand by Request Date in Landscape form

Dale,

If you are spooling this information out to an excel spreadsheet for your
managers to massage then the only thing that I could suggest is that you
could run it through our software first that would convert the data into a
landscape mode to pass on to your spreadsheet, but if that is all you are
looking to use the software for then it sounds like a little overkill. To
answer your question about using JetForm, we in fact are JetForms largest
supplier of print and output solutions for JD Edwards customers and we
in-fact use JetForm Central as the engine that we have built our Spool
Wizard and PDFWizard software around, so if you are a current JetForm
customer then our software could just be an add-on for you. If you are a
JetForm Central customer now you might be able to do what I suggested above
without using Spool Wizard. We specialize on AS400 and NT solutions and are
now providing support for JetForm Central customers running on AS400's. Let
me know if I can be of further help.
