POLL: Dr. Watson Errors

List,

What are your experiences with Dr. Watson errors with the JDE Client?

How many do you see per day?

What version of JDE are you running?

I am wondering if others see the number that we do? We have done everything
JDE is telling us to do and still see too many. We are running B7332SP14.1,
AS400 V4R4, NT DEP Server.

Thank you,

Tony Fischer

Tony,

First and foremost I would suggest getting off SP14.1.

We found that we tended to get them only on certain clients and they were
fixed by moving up to the next service pack level and upping the virtual
memory. We also have a minimum of 128mb on each of the clients.

We are on Xe SP 15.1 with 15.1_008, AS/400 V4R5 with SQL 7.0 SP 2. Some clients get Dr. Watson when they're installing update packages. One gets it on a regular basis. I suspect that it's something with her PC.

I have seen a similar issue at a client (also on B7332) where Dr Watson errors would occur every time, after a new (or partial) package was installed, the user accessed a resource hungry application like Sales or Purchase Order entry for the first time (in other words whenever a large first time installation takes place). After re-boot of the system, the Dr Watson error would no longer (or very infrequently) occur.

From memory, the issue went away after installation of a new SP

I have not seen this issue in XE.

With B7a and B7b, we used to get them hourly using the design tools.

With B713 and B714, not to often on the client, and about once a day using the design tools.

I don't think I've seen one anywhere I've been since then actually. That includes a number of various AS/400, NT, and Unix installs.

I get the occasional memory assertion errors and so on. These seem to be due to getting my appl's out of sync with my bsfn's.
