Our business use a conventional two pick process - pick one is raw material and components for manufacture. Pick two is finished goods for customer orders. We use a 3rd party warehouse management system to hold the majority of our inventory with custom interfaces to communicate between JDE and WMS.
Within JDE, the WMS location is seen as one big location and is set to be the primary location for all JDE items.
We also have secondary locations that are used within the manufacturing process - i.e. the work center locations.
The issue is this: We also sell components and sub-assemblies as spares. If stock is available in the primary (WMS) location then this is fine. But if the primary has no free stock the commitments process will look to the secondaries. For a number of reasons we don't want this to happen. Is there a way of restricting visibility of a location to WO picks only? Or not allowing SO picks from other than the primary location? We don't use lot control in JDE.
