Mfg / Work Orders not using STD cost (WORLD)

Anybody have experience using a costing method other than "07" Standard Cost with Work Orders in a discret manufacturing environment?
Is it even possible?

YES WE ARE USING COST TYPE 02(WEIGHTED AVG ) FOR MFG DISCRETE ENVIRONMENT & ON 8.9 IT IS WORKING FINE.

Do you perform partial WO completions? If so, do you ship the partial completion quantity before the balance of the WO is completed?

This was a major issue with Actual costing. If the material for the WO was fully issued at the start of production, all costs accrued at the time of the partial completion are applied to the partial quantity which overstated the cost. Subsequent WO completions would be understated in terms of material cost.

In other words - Actual costing requires completion to one location/lot and nothing from the WO should be shipped until all completions for the WO are done. So it does not work well in a discrete environment where partial completions are performed for the purpose of shipping to the customer.

I was wondering if Average costing behaves in the same fashion?

Thanks
