Kronos Time Keeping System and JDE

We are looking into the Kronos Time Keeping system and want to know how it
has worked (or not) for other companies. If you have experience using this
with JDE, can you answer the following questions...

* Was the installation Centralized (AS/400 based) or De-Centralized
(pc based)?
* What pieces of Kronos were installed?
* How did the installation go, integration with JDE?
* Were any installations done by a company called NW Micro-Technics?
* Would you or someone in your company be available to answer other
questions regarding this product?

Coexist: with AS/400 Enterprise server
* Xe sp 15 (sandbox 17) and update 1
* A73 cum 12

XE sp15; coexist on AS/400 with A73 cum 12 x3

We have been using the Kronos system on the /400 for about 3 years - very
successfully. Kronos built the "bridge" program to allow
downloading/uploading to and from JDE payroll. It is centralized on the
as/400. We have multiple time clocks - both on the ethernet network and
remote (connect with modems, dialing out from the /400).

Installation was pretty straightforward - I went to a Kronos class to learn
the basics of the program. I worked with Kronos to get the bridge done
right - they wanted to know how we wanted various fields mapped. Then I
just installed it. We had previously been on the pc standalone version of
Kronos so we had some knowledge of the product. I wasn't sure about the
benefits of going to the /400 version, but I am really glad we did. It is
a good solid program - we have never had any significant problems with it.

I would be more than happy to talk offline about our experiences.

Toni,

Just to add to David's comments we have been using Kronos for a year now and
we went with the AS/400 based product. I suggest that, at the very minimum,
there should be two people go to training class. The best situation would
be one technical and one user. Also there should be one person designated
as the "Configurator" or someone responsible (a user) for the understanding
and doing the setup inside the organization. The setup can be tricky and if
you are not aware of the consequences you can get bit later on. We used a
resource from the local Kronos office to help configure and setup the
software. Kronos wrote and I installed the interfaces from JDE to Kronos
and from Kronos to ADP. These are pretty standard and can be done fairly
quickly. Of course each shop will have their own requirements and I have
made some changes to the interface from Kronos. We had already decided that
no one, outside of HR, was going to get access to maintain the Employee
Master so I had to incorporate some additional processing into the
interface.

As I said, we installed the TK/AS product but are also looking into adding
the Gatekeeper one also. The Gatekeeper will be used to control access to a
select number of external doors with all the rest be retro-fitted with crash
bars and alarms. The primary reason for not going with it yet is cost since
every external door in all of our facilities will have to be touched. We
chose not to use any of the PC based components and not to use the GUI
interface (JWalk).
