JDE Xe B7333. Save specific objects in database access

Hello,

I have to save the objects (report, program, business function etc. ..) in an Access database so that you can carry on another machine.
Then with the program VSMerge.exe can check the differences between the specific object being saved and those in production.

I state that the environment is a DEMO of JDE Xe B7333 sp 13

I created a new Environment called SAVE01. See photos:

I created a named LOCALDATASAVE DataSources. See photos:

I created an ODBC data source: see picture:

I created a folder inside called B7 SAVE01. I entered into an Access database called LOCALDATASAVE.mdb inside with all the empty tables JDE. See Photo:

I associated the Environment to the DataSources. See photos:

Finally I set up the Save Object Location. See photos:

How do I go to press the save button that is inside dell'OWM (see photo), I get the following error:

The curious thing is that in the db access specifications are written.

Someone knows how to help?

Hi,

You should better use Product Packaging, comes with JDE
It's part of the GH9083 menu I think.
You select a bunch of objects, UDCs, DDs, tasks, etc...
and will pack them as an ESU that you can port anywhere
(as long as you're on the same JDE release)
I used that in 2000 in OneWorld Xe, was pretty cool and
solid.

You can always use Boomerang for this. Boomerang actually uses local specs for Import, leaving the Central Objects intact, so that you can even compare different copies of the same objects. (i.e.: PP would override the Central Objects specs)

Marco,

We used to use Product Packaging, but found it a bit convoluted and long winded - at least in 8.11. We now use Boomerang. Both are proven, reliable methods of transporting objects.

However the method of transportation that is best may depend on the reason for the transport and the source and target.

Sorry maybe I was not very clear. Maybe because my English is poor via google.

My goal is to compare some 500 programs in the modified versions I have in production and standard of the demo to do a report on the changes.

Delivering all the specs on a DB can access it by setting also the production environment, to compare those with the new production Environment SAVE01.

If there is another way to do this are quite happy to consider it.

In practice, I've done the steps above in both machines, the demo and for the production.

Once you save the object in Access DB, I take it and copy it instead of the production.

At this point I can bet with the program VSMerge.exe sull'enviroment SAVE01 that contains the db of DEMO.

Thanks for the help

Marco
