so, I'm at step 1 of installing a new Oracle E1 Deployment Server. Brand stinking new server on Win2K3 - installed all patches, installed Visual Studio 2005, installed latest Java runtime.

I just downloaded the deployment server installations from edelivery - the Oracle Express version. Unzipped all the disks, and started the RunInstall.exe while logged in as domain administrator.

is the message just as installshield starts up. What is going on here?! Do I have a security setup issue ? What am I missing ?

Setup comes with its own Java, maybe you shouldn't have installed the latest Java beforehand?

actually, I tried installing before I installed the SRE - thought I hadn't installed Java, so went ahead and downloaded/installed it. Still the same issue.

I'm downloading disk1 again. It might be that I got a bad download.

aha. It was a bad download. Disk1 must've not downloaded correctly. Phew - thought I was going CRAZY !

I've had quite a few bad downloads from the 'nice' people at Oracle

Good to see Jon, as that was going to be my suggestion as I too have had bad downloads and had to start over again.
