Import data from CSV/XML files

Newbie question. I'm looking for a 'standard' way to import data into JDE for third-party applications. Is there a specification that describes a simple CSV or XML file format that JDE can except (import) into the various components/applications of the system? Hopefully the specification would descibe the field types, limits and meaning. I've looked in all the forums and cannot see anything. If the specification is available on the web (Word, HTML, PDF, ...), please reference a URL would be greatly appreciated.

The Table conversion works very well to import files in JDE.
