Get Imput String from serial port or rs232

Hi everyone, im looking for a way to get the imput from a port (like a bar code reader) i need to get the imput from a keyboard emulator but i need to identificate that the imput is typed by a person or not..
can anyone help me..?

This will need to be programmed outside of JDE, that is: JDE offers no such functionality standard, although it can be written as a BSFN in C, or in any external language.

This would be operating system specific, so my next question is: what OS is this running on?
