FASTR row account range question

This is probably a stupid question, but I'm asking it anyway just to
make sure. When specifying a range of accounts in FASTR row specs, are
the accounts sequenced in the same order as they would appear on the
Accounts by BU screen (V0901)? I was working on a FASTR and found out
that specifying 7010.1 through 7010.10 does not include 7010.3, which I
assumed it would. I just want to make sure I understand how it works in
case this comes up again in the future. Thanks.

Tim,

7010.3 would be excluded as it is not between the values 7010.1 and 7010.10.
It's been a while since I have worked on World, but I believe it would
view that range the same way as Excel, meaning any 7010.1* value would come
before any 7010.3* value.

Hope this helps.

Hey there Tim,

There is an old saying about "assume".

Think through your select statement - why the dickens would 7010.3 be
included in the range you specified? Check against the sort specification
values associated with the AS/400!

As for sequencing, this is controlled through either the General
Specifications detail or the Row Specifications depending what you are
doing.

TIm,

If you view the video T/B for this BU, I think you will find that 7010.10 sorts above 7010.3 because these are character fields, not numeric. If your subsidiary accounts were all 2 positions (i.e., 01, 03, 10), then you would get the desired FASTR row results by specifying 7010.01 through 7010.10. HTH!
