Would like to find out what EDI package those of you on JDE use.

Some people has told me that Sterling Commerce can be integrated quite easily with JDE world 7.3. Any thoughts, directions and/or suggestion would be helpful..

Hi Charles,
I would suggest TrustedLink 400 from Peregrin (formerly Premenos
package).
Peregrin has the JDE mapping templates available to reduce document
creation time.

Charles -

We use Gentran Server for AS400 but any package will do. You need to
populate files F47011 and f47012 at a minumum. You can also populate the
order notes file if you like but that is optional. If you have the JDE
electronic commerce manual you can use the info there as a starting point,
but we found that we we needed to populate more fields that the guide
indicates. We also use a custom file outside of JDE to identify the
trading partner based on the combination of DUNS numbers sent. Use JDE
program J47011, with a DREAM Writer version specific to your needs, to move
the edited data out of F47011 and F47012 and into F4201 and F4211.

EDI with JDE is not an easy task, so insist on training, training,
training!

Good luck.

We use Sterling's Gentran translator and mail box services with World 7.3.
We have used both the NT version of Gentran and the AS400 version. We had
trouble with the NT version because of the stability of the movement
between servers and chose to move to the AS400 version. The AS400
versions work together nicely and are very stable.

Also, the ASN 856 transaction required modifications in the JDE software to
get it to work with the requirements of our trading partners.

Hello,
We currently use peregrine as our EDI software for JDE world 7.3 and
it works well. Our company has been using the green screen version and
plan to upgrade to the GUI e-Version 5 (currently 5.02.07). You can find
more information from their web site.

Thank You,

We are in the automotive industry and the only game in town for the AS/400
for the specialized and oft-changing automotive EDI is Future 3. It is
nowhere near an integrated solution, and it can way too easily populate the
F47011 and F47012 file with bogus transactions (i.e., parts can be set up
and invoiced in Future 3 that don't even have an inventory master record in
JDE). Future 3 works but you need robust business processes around it to
insure that customer master files and inventory master files in both Future
3 and JDE are in sync.

To those of you using Peregrine/Harbinger as your EDI solution, are any
of you setup to send/receive documents via the WEB as well as using a
VAN. If Peregrine has anything similar to JDELIST, I would greatly
appreciate any information anyone could give me.

We are using Peregrine/Harbinger for our EDI. We also send some
of the ASN documents through the web as required by one of our customer. We
also send /Receive Edi documents through the VAN. We have a custom program
that copies the outbound ASN documents for all the trading partners who need
the document sent through the WEB. If you need more info please contact me.

We use Extol for our EDI. They have a module that can read the JDE Data
Dictionary and there for get the numeric fields correct. We only
send/receive from a VAN but I believe they also can go the the Web.
