World A7.3 system 41:

We are going to duplicate many items, because we have to supply external sources with part of our item information. We would like to automate this process.

We were thinking of copying the items we need to duplicate to new files, do the changes needed and then importing the items to JDE again. We just want to be sure that all files get updated.

Does anyone know about a way to solve this or do we have to create special programs on our own ?

Lerche,
In One World we create use wintask (something like a robot) and record a script while entering a new item. This script contains windows commands SendKeys and work as a automation tool reading a excel worksheet and creating the entries to the correct fields into item aplications.
Because the validation is done by you Item Master or Item/Branch our other item applications no changes are required to your applications.
Takes 1 day to record and fix the script, it will be quicker than creating and entry for item records. The only problem is that is slower than a batch application.

Hope this help
