Hi all,

I've heard that in OneWorld 8.9 you can compare Event Rules of 2 programs with different names. Is there anything similar for XE?.

Thank you in advance.

Hi!
Not that I know of. The functionality appeared in one of the service packs of 8.9 - I haven't tested it yet...
It could only be solved by some tricky copying of the objects to the same name and compare the two specs. However according to my experiences ER compare does not work really well if there are many different controls. So you can only have good results if one of the objects had been copied from the other.

Arturo,

I use windiff (Start/Run on NT) for that.

Hi Gergely,

We want to compare standard pgms. with our own copies. How can I do to copy with the same name?

Thank you very much.

Hi Marcell,
Thank you for your help. With this program Can you compare event rules, or you have to export the event rules to a text file and compare the text files?. Could you tell me where can I find this pgm.?

Thank you. :)

Yes, you have to export the ER from both programs to text files. Then
use windiff to compare the text files. You should be able to find
windiff in your Microsoft Visual C++ Tools.

Windiff - what an antique of a tool...

Export the ER to text files.
Download Beyond Compare (www.scootersoftware.com)
Compare the two text files with Beyond Compare

BC is so much nicer than windiff (the crypt-keeper of compare tools)...
