Branch Plant Constants - World A73c9 V4R5

I have been working on some AS Of reporting problems and came across(again)
a field in the B/P Constants that is puzzling me. I have research to my
capabilities and can not find if or when the field CIPNC in the Branch Plant
constants (F41001) is updated. Is this field used. It came to our
attention at closing of this past year that the field was not being updated.
It appears that it is only changed manually. Also, the books elude that it
is only used for PACO and PBCO (posted before or after cut off) messaging.

Does anyone know any more about the use of this field - specifically is the
value of CIPNC from F41001 used in any inventory processing such as 'AS OF'
reporting.

The helps are incorrect on the Current Inventory Period. Its only use is to
know the current month for two programs:
Buyer's Information - P4115, and the Buying Guide Report - R4152. Both
programs need to know the current month so that it can properly display
sales history information. If you don't use those programs, then you don't
need to worry about the field.

Liz,
I would say CIPNC is indeed being used. I would be shocked if it is
not. That field says what is my current open period of the fiscal year.
For example, if on a calendar year for your fiscal year, then July would be
period 07 as the value in this field. In August, you should see this value
become 08 (timing depends on when finance closes the prior month). This
would probably be updated by some process that happens when the month is
considered closed. JDE has logic in its system that will allow you the
option to not let users post a transaction to an old month or a future
month. I know we utilize that feature here. This field would be utilized
by JDE programs to determine the current period, and then compare the period
of the transaction being input to that value to see if you have an error
condition. Being an IS person, I don't know the closing process real well,
but I cannot believe someone is going to manually go through and change this
period value on all our branch plants, so there has to be an automated way
of making that change. Perhaps someone else will know that answer.

John, consider yourself shocked.

See my other posting on this earlier today. What you say is logical but in
this case not correct. There is no
automatic way that the field is updated, nor is there a need to update it
for financial reasons.

All the PACO, WACO messages are controlled by comparing the G/L date to the
current accounting period, not the inventory period.

Re: RE: Branch Plant Constants - World A73c9 V4R5

Would this information listed in these posts related to World be similar to the "Current Inventory Period" in E1 9.0? We have 14 B/U's setup and 12 of them have PD 6 setup on them, but two of them have PD 12. By changing them to 6 would this affect the G/L in anyway? Thanks
