Re: RE: B73.3.2 to ERP 8.0
Todd,
You are correct. JD Edwards has always provided a direct upgrade path to
a new release from only the previous two releases. Therefore, you must
be on XE or ERP 8.0 to be able to directly upgrade to ERP 9.0, when
available. And yes, it's also been stated that there will be large
amounts of retro-fitting required, UDB will be needed, and no
co-existence is allowed...three big changes right there in addition to
the many others that will surely come with ERP 9.0.
As to your initial inquiry...your upgrade path from B7332 to ERP 8.0
should be a normal one (if there is such a thing). Since it's been out
awhile and tried quite a bit, I believe most of the gotchas have been
documented. Be sure you have all of the required ESU's and service packs
applied (especially the Planner ESU for ERP 8.0), there is a spec merge
fix, and some TC issues. Print out all of the system specific upgrade
docs from the KG and be sure to read and understand them, that should
allow you to either avoid them or at least be aware of the process to fix
them. All in all, though, everything is pretty well documented.
If memory serves correct, you have an additional server to be used as the
new deployment server, which will allow you to run the upgrade without
losing your existing deployment server, which will be a big help if you
run into any issues.
