Archiving

We've been running OneWorld since March 1999 and have never undertaking any achiving/purging activities. UTB searching on F0911 is now taking too long. Am interested in how other sites go about table archives/purges. Any tips, traps etc..

Appreciate any advice,
cheers,
John

John-

We have over 10 million records in our F0911 and are addressing the same
issue from a maintenance standpoint. Typically, companies keep 2 years of
transactions online. You should purge an entire year at a time. Purged
records are copied into purge tables so you will need more, not less, disk
space to accomplish this. There is an Oracle white paper for using Oracle
partitioning if performance continues to be a problem.

Refer to JDE docs WFN-99-0062, OFN-00-0008, WFN-00-0069, WFN-00-0068 for
details on purge processes.

Our plan is to allow the F0911 to grow in Oracle for at least an anticipated
36 month record capacity and purge the first year so we have 2 full years of
transactions online.

Good luck!

Regards,
David
