Order Hold Release resets Manufacturing work order status.

I have a process to create work orders from Sales Orders by using the 'W' line type.

My work order has the following status flow:
B1-Work ORder Created
B2-Work being performed
B3-Labor Time Entered
B4-Work order completion and backflush done
B5-Manufacturing Account Complete
other: B0-On Sales Hold

When the sales order is placed on hold my Work Order goes to status B0-On Sales Hold (this is how I set it up) When the hold is released the status is moved to B1 I can then process the work order.
This is all great so far...

but now lets say I have processed my work order to a B4 status and in parallel my sales order for whatever reason has gone back on hold. This time I don't want anything to happen to my work order but I do need to release the sales order again. When I release the sales order the work order status goes back to B1 again. this totally screws up the flow for my work orders...

Does anyone have any experience managing work order statuses with sales order holds and releases.

You could put the order on hold by moving it to a different status. The work order will not be affected by this.
