XP update package error/hang workaround

Some of our XP/SP2 fat clients error when trying to accept an update package. At first there is a Windows error saying JDESetupSpecUpdate.dll is the problem. If you try to take the package again it hangs at 19%. We have found that if you remove this .dll from the B7/system/bin32 folder the package installs fine. The package does not replace this file. Does anyone know what this .dll is used for and if not having it will cause problems?

Just one thing you could check since you are on a XP workstation.

Did you turn of the System Restore before installing the update package..?

Yes, system restore is turned off.
