Call JDE Function from .Net via interoperability

We are to call JDE business function from .Net. From what I understand, XML CallObject and/or GenCOM can be used (genJava is not suggested due to .Net). I assume that they are separate ways to achieve this. What are the steps to do this for each method? Any help is appreciated.
