can you please be more specific as to the circumstances? Are you looking for the JOBNBR from a submitted job running on the server (from F986110)?
If so, look at using B91300C to submit your UBE. See Post #87568.

Recently, we had a requirement to submit a report with parameters and retrieve the job number from F986110 file. In this case, we could not use B91300C. So, we have resolved the problem as described in the attached file.

Isn't there a CL Command that will give you the Job Number of the currently running job? I'm away from an iSeries for a couple weeks (vacation) - or I'd just mooch from the green screen.
If there is a command - it can be used via Call External Command) to pull the numbers....
