Promote from DV to PD

I know the "normal" sequence of events is to move from DV to PY to PD. Sometimes we have the need to go from DV right to PD. Can I just create another activity rule that will promote from DV to PD? I was thinking of creating a new status "24 - Hold for PROD". I would promote from 23 to 24 (just a status change) and then from 24 to 38. I would create the appropriate moves to PROD.

This is needed because they need an emergency fix moved to production while they are still testing other stuff in PY. It is easier, and quicker, to comment out the test changes and add the quick fix. Then when the testing is done, everything can be promoted "normally" and the quick fix is not lost.

Of course you can do this...set up the code, rules, and permissions, and
you can go from any path code to any other.
