Removing version when deploying

How can I get rid of versions when deploying an update package? Some of our developers created "extra" versions of some applications. They removed the versions from their projects and an update package was created and deployed. The versions still appear when the users run the application. How can we get rid of the "dead" versions from the version screens?

When the update package is created simply push the button that say "selected versions only". This will allow you to decide which versions to include.
As far as deleting existing versions, I would think you could just go into Batch Versions and the delete the versions you don't like.
