Service Pack 20 Expired ???

Today, while looking for a service pack for a customer - I noticed that Service Pack 20 has been Expired already !!! It might have been expired for a while now - but I thought this sort of "forced upgrade" technique was being stopped by JD Edwards Development ? Evidently the customer could NOT get hold of Service Pack 20 from JDE, and I had to eventually hunt around to find a copy.

When JDE got rid of the "dot one" service pack releases - I was sure that they had made a release stating that they would continue support of one service pack back from current - especially since, as an example, SP21 has had several serious issues (such as GL Post issues). However, it seems now as if this provision has a time limit.

Effective 12/03/02, all service packs will be available for no less than
6 weeks after release of next service pack level. Though the service
pack may be available longer than 6 weeks, no service pack will be
expired prior to the 6 week period. Service pack 21 was released on or
about 12/30/02...so SP20 was actually available for twice the indicated
minimum.

My advice to all my clients, always download each service pack even if
you don't have current plans to install it.

OTC-02-0099 is the document that outlines the policy.

Regards,

Jim

Also...if you look at the target release date document, SP20 had an
expected expiration date of March 7, 2003.

Ya snooze...ya lose... :)
