Windows 2000 & SP3

I justs read in a previous post that Windows 2000 SP3 is not supported until OW SP21. I just found out that our network guys installed in on the deployment server without my knowledge. I have no intention of going to SP21 anytime soon. What impact will this have on me? I can build packages from my client, but what about ESU's? All input would be appreciated.

Sully :

I had problems with an Xe SP20 Deployment Server where full client packages
and ESUs failed
after installing Windows 2000 SP3, had to install SP21_D1 to fix it.
You may also uninstall SP3 and get back to SP2 (if the uninstall check was
enabled during
SP3 installation...).

But you're on SP21 for OW...which IS supported for use of W2K SP3...I
believe poor Patty's issue is that her network yahoo's applied W2K SP3 on
the deployment server (in the "three strikes and you're out" states, this
would count as all three strikes! :) ), and she is not on SP21 for OW,
nor planning on moving to it soon.

I see by your signature that you are already on SP21, that's why you are not having any problems. My question was about not being on SP21.

You should be ok - I have been using SP3 with no apparent issues with SP18.1 - its a stable platform and should cause no issues with the Deployment Server or package builds.

However, be careful about installing SP3 onto Citrix Servers running Metaframe XP - evidently there are some known issues that citrix has built some fixes for.

Nothing, however, that would cause you issues in Oneworld specifically - I am sure.

Sorry about that, I meant to say we weren't having any problems prior to SP21. We just upgraded to SP21 two weeks ago. Prior to that we were on SP19 and had Win2000 SP3 installed for several months. We had no problems installing ESUs or updates. Package builds became slower but were not sure if it was related to Win2000 SP3. There was a mention that Win2000 SP3 was only supported on SP21 and that SP21 would fix it. We are hoping this is the case.
