Anyone applied Oracle 8.1.6.3 Patch

We have a "commit failed" problem which is supposedly fixed by applying Oracle's 8.1.6.3 patch. We applied it to the server but the problem remained (and we had a few ones) and we backed-out the patch. There is some debate (with JDE (in private correspondence) and others) on whether we should or shouldn't have applied it to OW clients (we are using Citrix servers).

Have you applied this patch, and if so did you apply it to the client too?

We are on B73.32 SP 11.0 Oracle 8.1.6.0 HP9000 HP-UX B.11.00

I applied this patch about a year ago when I was working for another client. To answer your question, yes, I applied it to the clients as well. If I remember correctly, after we applied it to the server, we were still having the problem, but it was resolved after we applied the patch to the clients.

Yes, you have to apply it to the clients as well: a good share of the bug
fixes delivered in the patch sets apply to the client rather than the
server...
