Update Packages - how to do?

Frosty the Coder

Legendary Poster
As a _programmer_ a real source of aggravation is not being able to test (on diff machines)
without first doing a package (update or full).

Our CNC guys have been unwilling to show the coders how to do this.
I'm tired of debating it with them.

Would someone please be so kind, as to tell me how to do an UPDATE package?
Any KG docs that you can refer to would be helpful.

TIA

Gene,
I have a document I had done for me when I first got to XE. it should be pretty functional although it shows using the director instead of express. I now always use the express options. Send me an e-mail & I will send to you. It's slightly bigger than allowed on the list.
A simpler way to get stuff to test is move the objects into your default folder and then do "gets" on them at the target/testing computer. I do this all the time.
Feel free to contact me if you need further info.
Regards,
Dave

Please go to JDE KG there are couple of good docs: under "knowledge
documents" or
download the "Package MGT Guide from" KG

Re: RE: Update Packages - how to do?

Dinesh,

Can you narrow it down to more than "good docs: under "Knowledge Documents""?

I will look for the Package MGT Guide.

Thanks

Gene
